Marketplace Sales Tax Setup
IF YOU'RE A BUSINESS ON SHOPIFY, YOU CAN ADJUST THE TAX SETTINGS IN YOUR SHOPIFY ADMIN TO FLAG SPECIFIC CUSTOMERS AS TAX EXEMPT. TAX EXEMPT CUSTOMERS ARE NOT CHARGED TAX DURING CHECKOUT AND ARE IDENTIFIED BY EMAIL ADDRESS.
When placing orders, ShopRunner will use a predefined set of email addresses to place orders. You’ll mark these pre-approved emails as tax exempt. During checkout, ShopRunner won’t be charged any tax value. As a part of your monthly invoice, ShopRunner will pass back any tax amount you need to remit and provide special reporting which will identify which orders and which authorities the tax is owed.
From your Shopify admin, go to Customers.
Click ‘Add customer’ and create a new customer for each SR Marketplace specific email address provided by your Onboarding Manager.
In the Tax settings section, click Manage.
Uncheck Collect tax
