TAX RECONCILIATION
Marketplace Facilitator State Orders
For all orders being shipped to a state that has marketplace facilitator laws in place, it is Instagram's responsibility to collect, file, and remit on the supplier’s behalf.
ShopRunner is going to bill the Supplier for the total tax that was paid by ShopRunner on the supplier’s website, less any refunds.
Non-Marketplace Facilitator State Orders
For all orders being shipped to a state that does not have marketplace facilitator laws in place, and where the supplier has Nexus, Instagram will still collect tax on the order, but it is up to the supplier to remit accordingly.
The taxes collected by Instagram from the customer are passed to ShopRunner.
ShopRunner takes those funds and uses them to place the replicated customer orders on the supplier’s ecommerce website.
Taxes for non-marketplace state orders will have already been collected by the supplier during ShopRunner’s checkout process. No further reconciliation will be performed.
